Perkins Coie attorneys were mentioned in the Law360* article, "Ill. Jury Awards Riddell $5M in Football Helmet IP Trial," regarding their representation of the Riddell Inc. win against rival helmet maker Schutt Sports, who created and marketed a football helmet that infringes two of its patents.

Arguing for Riddell, Christopher Hanewicz told jurors not to buy Schutt's claim that it has always believed the patents protecting Riddell's "Revolution" helmet were invalid, saying the company has lost previous attempts to challenge the patents. In addition to Christopher, Riddell is represented by Rodger K. Carreyn, Michelle Umberger, Gabrielle E. Bina, Brandon M. Lewis and Douglas L. Sawyer.
