SEATTLE (November 10, 2022)—Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that it has been named to the 2022 ChIPs Honor Roll, a joint initiative between ChIPs and Diversity Lab, for the second year in a row. Perkins Coie was one of just three law firms recognized for Excellence in Gender Inclusion in its Intellectual Property practice.

ChIPs Honor Roll selections are based on findings from Diversity Lab’s Inclusion Blueprint, which measures diversity benchmarks of historically underrepresented groups, including female lawyers, underrepresented racial/ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities, in law firm leadership and across practice groups, including intellectual property. The Inclusion Blueprint also incorporates inclusion efforts for law firms to adopt to ensure that their lawyers have fair and equal access to compensation, leadership roles, and other critical career-enhancing opportunities.

ChIPs is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing and connecting women in technology, law, and policy. Diversity Lab is an incubator for innovative solutions that boost diversity and inclusion in the legal industry.

Perkins Coie has long been recognized for excellence in the legal industry and for its commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work culture. The firm has achieved Mansfield 5.0 Certification Plus from Diversity Lab and has earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s top rating of 100% in the Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality, for 14 straight years. The firm has been recognized as one of Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For®” for 20 consecutive years.

Perkins Coie’s internationally recognized Intellectual Property practice consists of more than 250 lawyers and agents who provide innovative, holistic counsel at every stage of intellectual property protection and development. The practice recently launched a patent agent training program structured to support technical advisors in becoming qualified as patent agents and then securing law degrees to practice as patent lawyers with Perkins Coie. The program provides a clear career path for graduates—including law school tuition—and reflects Perkins Coie’s commitment to improving diversity and inclusion within the legal industry.
