CHICAGO, IL. (April 14, 2015) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Thomas L. Holt has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property practice as a partner in the Chicago office. He was previously a partner at Steptoe & Johnson.

Tom focuses his practice on trademark, copyright, false advertising, patent and trade secret law. He provides comprehensive trademark counsel to major global brands on matters ranging from clearance and prosecution to demand letters and litigation. Tom also has substantial experience in administrative trademark litigation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, proceedings involving Internet domain name disputes and in all phases of federal court litigation.

Tom regularly advises clients on IP protection and enforcement issues, the management of U.S. and international IP portfolios, drafting and negotiating IP agreements, and conducting due diligence reviews in IP transactions. His vast industry experience spans computing technology, mobile and wireless telecommunications, medical devices, food and beverage, heavy manufacturing and consumer products.

In 2015, he was recognized by the World Trademark Review 1000 as a leading trademark lawyer and by Illinois Super Lawyers for his IP litigation practice. Tom earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
