Tom serves as firmwide chair of the firm's nationally recognized Trademark, Copyright, Internet & Advertising practice. He has represented clients—from startups to world-famous organizations—for over 20 years in strategically protecting and enforcing their brands and other intellectual property. World Trademark Review 1000 noted that Tom is “pragmatic, trustworthy and does a brilliant job for clients.”

Tom’s practice encompasses trademark, trade dress, copyright and false advertising law. He has extensive experience in all phases of federal court litigation, including ex parte seizure, temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction, trial and appellate proceedings. Additionally, Tom has represented numerous clients in inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in proceedings involving internet domain name disputes.

Tom is also actively involved in counseling clients on intellectual property protection and enforcement issues and in managing U.S. and international intellectual property portfolios. He has significant experience drafting and negotiating intellectual property agreements and has conducted numerous due diligence reviews and handled transfer agreements in intellectual property transactions. Tom’s vast industry experience spans computing technology, mobile and wireless telecommunications, medical devices, education, food and beverage, heavy manufacturing and a variety of other consumer products. Tom has also participated in numerous programs and written on topics covering a wide range of intellectual property issues.
