Partner Bing Ai, counsel Kevin Patariu, and associate Di Zhang, recently co-hosted and spoke at a seminar in Shenzhen, China on U.S. District Court patent litigation and administrative proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Hon. David S. Johanson, ITC Commissioner, spoke at the seminar. Other distinguished speakers included Joel B. Blank, the U.S. Intellectual Property Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, Timothy Browning, Counsel and Intellectual Rights Officer for the U.S. Consulate General, Guangzhou, China Peking University Law School Professor Ming Yang, and Professor Guobin Cui, Director of Tsinghua University Law School Intellectual Property Law Center Director. The seminar was moderated by Di Zhang in both English and Chinese.

The topics of the seminar covered the use of intellectual property law as a driver for innovation, research and development, economic growth, and prosperity in the United States and China. The seminar focused on the role of ITC Commissioners, ITC domestic industry and remedy issues, trade secret misappropriation, U.S. patent litigation trends, and post-grant proceedings before the PTAB.
