David Perez was quoted in "Lessons on Law Firm Management From Leaders Who Litigate," an article on Law.com regarding collaborating with colleagues and recognizing diverse management styles.

 

There’s a flip side to leaning on others, though, according to David Perez, who became the firmwide chair of business litigation at Perkins Coie in 2021. He said it’s been essential to get to know his partners, and to be flexible about understanding how to meet their needs. Perez, who is based in Seattle, said he’s come to understand “the practice of law can be learned, but there is no playbook for the administration of law.”

“It’s important to understand that there are different approaches to managing the business of law and building a book of business, and you will need to accommodate many different styles,” he said.
