Margot Loken is a member of the firm’s Privacy & Security Law and Litigation practices. Margot has extensive experience litigating at both the trial and appellate levels in the federal courts. In accordance with that practice, Margot has drafted complaints, dispositive and emergency motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements. She has taken depositions and participated in settlement negotiations. Additionally, Margot has led briefing and argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and has contributed to merits briefing before the U.S. Supreme Court.
In her practice at Perkins Coie, Margot litigates on behalf of communications service providers on a variety of legal issues, including alleged violations of the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), and issues relating to the Fourth Amendment. Margot also helps counsel clients on compliance with domestic and international legal process and user data disclosure requests, and has experience with data breach response.
