Thomas Holt was quoted in the New York Post article, “Nixon Campaign Shirts Use MTA Trademark Without Permission,” regarding Cynthia Nixon’s campaign selling t-shirts with the trademarked F-train logo without the MTA’s permission.

Leading trademark lawyer Thomas Holt said a claim of parody wouldn’t likely get Nixon off the hook. “Courts are reluctant to find a parody defense when there is a commercial use,” Holt said. “The campaign is selling T-shirts. They’re using the logos to ride on the coattails of the MTA.”
