SEATTLE, Wash. (December 1, 2014) - Perkins Coie is proud to announce that the firm has received the 2014 Law Firm Diversity Award from the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). Presented at NAPABA’s recent 26th Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona, the award was accepted by partners Audra Mori, Chris Kao, and Julia Markey, senior counsel Paul Hirose, partner-elect David Tsai and associates John Gray and Eric Ow.

The award honors law firms that steadfastly commit to diversity initiatives and that actively, affirmatively, consistently and enthusiastically recruit, retain and promote Asian Pacific American (APA) lawyers to equity partnership and firm leadership. This was the second year NAPABA has presented this award.

Perkins Coie has a variety of affinity groups, which develop camaraderie and programming for members, assist with development opportunities, and maintain relationships with national minority bar associations, including NAPABA. In addition to affinity groups for African American/Black, GLBT, Latina/o, Native American/Hawaiian/Alaskan, Women, Parents and Lawyers with Disabilities, Perkins Coie has both South Asian/Middle Eastern and Asian Pacific Islander (API) affinity groups. Paul Hirose, former NAPABA president, and David Tsai are the leaders of Perkins Coie’s national API affinity group.

NAPABA is the national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors and law students. NAPABA represents the interests of over 40,000 attorneys and 67 state and local bar associations.
