Janice Ta was quoted in “Top Women in IP: Janice Ta,” an interview in Texas Lawyer,* regarding her rise to partner at the firm, as well as other topics.

 

Texas Lawyer: What are some of your proudest recent achievements, and why?

Janice Ta: When I joined Perkins Coie in 2020, my employment contract said I would not be considered for the partnership until at least 2023. But less than a year after I lateralled, I proudly breached that contract to make partner earlier than my expected date. The firm recognized my achievements and my hard work. They saw my dedication to my clients. They saw my business development efforts. They recognized the time I invested in mentoring associates. They saw the work I put into diversity and inclusion efforts as chair of the firm’s Disability Resources Group. I felt seen. In that year, I was quickly integrated into multiple cases. But the victory I was most proud of was winning at an administrative trial at the International Trade Commission, and doing it with an incredibly diverse team.
