Law360* quoted Barak Cohen in an article, "Professor’s Case Draws Hard Line On Foreign Conflicts," regarding the U.S. Department of Justice approach against U.S.-based researchers suspected of having undisclosed foreign conflicts.

Barak noted that while some indictments read like novels, others contain only the basic facts supporting the elements of an offense. The Tao indictment appears to be the latter, Barak said. "There are a lot of lines missing between the dots. The lines that are missing are important ones that could be critical to his defense," he said.
