Marc Martin was quoted in "The Telecom Developments That Defined 2022," an article in Law360* regarding some of the year's top developments at the FCC and across the telecom industry.

 

Marc Martin, said it was unlikely for Sohn to clear the Senate in what remains of the session since Democrats retained control of the body and have more leeway to focus on legislation rather than nominations as the clock winds down.

But he said the commission has done a lot within its partisan constraints this year, finding agreement on a host of issues that cut across party lines — for example, national security actions such as bans on Chinese equipment.

Most of the commission's 2022 accomplishments were either statutorily mandated actions or initiatives unlikely to cause a stir, Marc noted. "And so what you've seen with the FCC under Chairwoman Rosenworcel is a fairly safe commission, in the sense that it's not taking on the more contentious policy issues, because frankly, it can't," Marc said.
