Partner Marc Martin was quoted in “Infrastructure Push Reveals Partisan Broadband Priorities,” an article in Law360,* regarding how the infrastructure plan may affect broadband plan prices.

Conservatives might interpret elements of the Democrats' infrastructure plan as disruptive, but that might be entirely the point, said Marc, who chairs [the firm’s] communications industry group.

The traditional subsidy model has still resulted in broadband plan prices that are prohibitively high for average consumers, and that's what Democrats are giving nod to with their ambitious plans, he said.

The existing subsidy model "wasn't enough to disrupt the price of broadband," Marc said. "During COVID, the people who were hurt the most were those who could least afford it, and yet they're dependent on broadband in an environment where they're working remotely."
