PHOENIX (November 28, 2023)—Perkins Coie is pleased to share the recent announcement that Phoenix Partner John Gray, vice chair of the firm’s Trademark, Copyright, Internet & Advertising practice and co-chair of its Trade Secrets practice, has been selected as a lawyer representative for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. John’s term began recently and will run through 2026. He is one of only five newly appointed lawyers chosen from a highly qualified and diverse group of applicants to undertake this important service to the federal bench. 

John focuses on complex business and intellectual property disputes and has special emphasis in trade secret litigation and counseling, serving as counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants on multiple high-risk and prominent trade secret litigations. He also has significant experience representing both large and small companies in disputes over trademark enforcement, patent infringement, licensing, copyright infringement, employment and noncompetition agreements, and an array of contract and business tort issues. John regularly draws on the experience he gained in Arizona federal and state practice from serving on the Arizona State Bar’s Civil Practice and Procedure Committee and working directly with several federal judges in Phoenix. 

John is ranked nationally for his trade secret, commercial litigation, and copyright practices by publications including Intellectual Asset Management and The Best Lawyers in America. He was also recognized as a “Young Lawyer of the Year (Beyond Practice)” finalist by The American Lawyer in 2022.
