Genhi Givings Bailey was quoted in the Law360* article, "Why 2020 Could Be a Pivotal Year for Diversity at Firms," regarding systemic changes diversity and inclusion officers are tasked with implementing.

Making those fundamental changes also requires top leadership to get behind the diversity and inclusion office, according to Perkins Coie LLP Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Genhi Givings Bailey.

Genhi says she has seen an unusually high number of diversity and inclusion jobs become available in the last few months.

"This is a good thing — it is important to make the investment. However, law firms must also empower the leads and teams to do the work that needs to be done and to stay the course," Genhi said. "Systemic change is never easy as it often requires examining, dismantling and redesigning and implementing new policies and practices."
