Genhi Givings Bailey was quoted in the Law360* article, "Diversity Efforts at Many Firms Ignore Disabled Attorneys," regarding the fact that Perkins Coie has the highest representation of attorneys with disabilities and has been collecting disability diversity data for a full decade.

Genhi, the firm’s new chief diversity and inclusion officer, said Perkins Coie devotes great effort to fostering an inclusive workplace and a sense of psychological safety that allows employees to “bring their full and authentic selves to work.”

“A sharp legal mind is the key driver in working at a law firm—not physical ability or whether you come from some other more privileged background,” she said.

Genhi said many diversity initiatives fall into the trap of focusing solely on categories of race, gender and, more recently, sexual orientation. But at Perkins Coie, such efforts also include those with disabilities, diverse religious beliefs, and military veteran status, among other differences.
