“You still get a huge data dump, especially in the clearance process,” says Fabricio. “That’s part and parcel due to the different ways trademark systems work around the world.”

Fabricio says lawyers run the risk that they will miss information if they target a search too narrowly. But if they search too broadly, the tools will come back with too much information.
