“Clients who in the past have not worked with crisis communications managers now are asking about having them involved,” said Ann Marie Painter.

Still, even a defense “supported by the law and the facts” could “look harsh or like further bad treatment” of a complaining employee, “depending on how articulately and vigorously you assert these defenses,” said Ann Marie Painter.
