Smart contracts, digital assets and distributed ledger technologies make it possible to execute financial transactions in a peer-to-peer fashion with little to no intermediation by third-parties. The increase in the use of such technologies, particularly to deliver prediction markets and derivatives trading and clearing, is changing the landscape of investment management.

Topics include the mechanics of such platforms and how they fit within existing regulatory frameworks, including the application of the federal commodities, securities and money services laws to decentralized exchange platforms and technologies.
