Letter from Dax Hansen

Dear Friends:

For more than a decade, I’ve helped innovators change the world through blockchain technology and digital assets. In recent years, I’ve simultaneously plunged into regenerative agriculture and rebuilding environmental ecosystems, communities, and human health by focusing on soil function. Thousands of family farmers are engaged in this struggle, losing ground rapidly with degraded topsoil, water shortages, climate change, and input cost increases. We somehow expect farmers to survive when they only receive, on average, 7.6 cents out of every $1.00 spent on food in the United States.

Through my experience as both a blockchain lawyer and a farmer who converted my family farm into the first Regenerative Organic Certified farm in the southwest United States, I’ve become convinced the crypto community holds the power to dramatically accelerate regenerative agriculture. The world now has an entirely new, decentralized community and collection of tools, applications, philosophies, money, and wealth to apply to fundamental social and environmental agricultural infrastructure. In other words, we have an opportunity to rebuild agriculture, food production and distribution, and human health and nutrition from the soil up.

Most of you have expressed interest in regenerative agriculture. Many of you have built leading businesses, products, and protocols in the crypto industry. Some of you have built, or are building, the next generation of crypto tools, applications, and businesses specifically for regenerative agriculture. And some of you are regenerative farmers, ranchers, and advocates who recognize the potential of crypto to accelerate your efforts.

I look forward to an engaging discussion with each of you.

Best regards,

J. Dax Hansen
