SEATTLE (April 23, 2019) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as a Top 10 Firm for Gender Equity by Yale Law Women (YLW) in its 2019 Top Ten Firms for Gender Equity and Family Friendliness Report. YLW works to advance the careers of women and typically underrepresented gender identities at Yale Law School and across the wider legal community.

The YLW report surveys law firms ranked in the 2019 Vault Law 100 to share information on typical indicators of gender equity, such as partnership promotions and composition of leadership. To take a more intersectional approach this year, the YLW incorporated data from the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) on attorneys who identify as women of color and/or LGBTQ+. It also collected data on parental leave and family accommodation policies.

“Perkins Coie has long been engaged in recruiting, promoting and advancing women attorneys, and we’re proud of the steps we’ve taken to ensure our firm is open and inclusive,” said Genhi Givings Bailey, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer of Perkins Coie. “It’s an honor to be recognized by Yale Law Women for our dedication to gender equity and family friendliness.”

YLW recognized law firms for high performance in categories the organization deems important. This year, Perkins Coie received Category Honors for “At Least 35% Women on Executive Compensation and Hiring Committees” and “Highest Percentage of Associates on Part-Time Schedules.” The last category highlights firms’ culture of inclusion and talent retention. The firm’s most recent partner class was 56 percent women and 30 percent are lawyers of color. Of the newly promoted counsel class, 54 percent are women and 27 percent are lawyers of color. The firm has also been recognized by Fortune, Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, among other entities, for its commitment to fostering a culture where all lawyers have an opportunity to grow and thrive.
