WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 2, 2015) - Perkins Coie announces with sadness the death of colleague and friend William J. Bainbridge on October 30, 2015, age 49.

Bill was an associate in Perkins Coie’s Government Contracts practice in the Washington, D.C. office. His work focused on all aspects of government contracts, including bid protests, small business matters, contractor claims, False Claims Act litigation, cost accounting and compliance, contract negotiations, subcontracts, bid and proposal preparation and conflicts of interest.

Bill had a 23-year career in the U.S. Army, enlisting out of high school, attending college while in the military, and eventually rising to the rank of Major. After retiring from the Army, Bill joined Lockheed Martin as a program manager while attending George Washington University where he concentrated in government contracts law. At Perkins Coie, Bill was known for his keen intellect and imaginative approach to solving legal issues.

Bill was actively involved in charitable affairs and providing pro bono legal representation to those in need. He tirelessly supported the work of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers service which offers legal assistance to Marylanders with limited income and free legal help for community-based nonprofits that are working to strengthen low-income communities in Maryland. He strongly supported the Military Spouse Business Association which provides entrepreneurial tools and resources to encourage the military spouse to successfully establish businesses.

Bill was a fine human being who cared deeply about his family, friends and colleagues. He was greatly respected and admired by those who knew him; he will be missed by all.
