SEATTLE, Wash. (February 14, 2018) - Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that it has received the T-Mobile 2017 Diversity Excellence Award. This annual award recognizes a law firm with strong associate and equity partner diversity as well as exceptional diversity programs and policies.

T-Mobile recognized Perkins Coie because of the firm's innovative diversity and inclusion initiatives. The highlighted programs include the Perkins Rule, an approach that requires the firm to make a formal effort to include diverse attorneys in candidate pools and interviews when conducting an authorized search for a lateral partner, senior counsel, counsel or associate; the New Diverse Associates Bootcamp, which annually welcomes the firm's incoming class of diverse associates with the programming and resources that are needed for a successful law career at Perkins Coie; and the Diversity Checklist, which is tied to compensation decisions and asks partners to commit to practical action items that further diversity and inclusion both within the firm and in our communities.

In addition, to specifically address the need for more diversity in Perkins Coie’s largest offices, the firm created diverse attorney resume books with CVs of Black/African American and Latino/Hispanic lawyers in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland and Washington, D.C. These CVs are leveraged by the firm’s recruiters and hiring partners to broaden the diversity of its lateral attorney applicant pool, expand the firm’s professional network and increase opportunities to recruit diverse candidates.
