Pet food companies are facing increasing instances of supply chain issues that in turn are hurting their brands, said Julie Hussey of Perkins Coie LLP.

"It is necessary for manufacturers to dig in and ask hard questions of the suppliers about the source, quality and purity of ingredients that they are providing and set high standards for their ingredients," Hussey said. "Manufacturers should seek supplier ingredient test certification on a regular basis and manufacturers must perform their own quality tests for compliance."
