Jean-Jacques Cabou was quoted in the Law360* article, "DC Court Rules Alleged Crypto Launderer Dealt in 'Money,'" regarding the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia's conclusions in the case, United States v. Larry Dean Harmon.

J, part of the team representing Harmon, pointed out that no congressional laws or those that fall under the District of Columbia state that bitcoin is money or that services such as those provided by Helix constitute money transmission, adding that guidance from the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network on the matter "is not law."

"Naturally we are disappointed with the court's conclusions ... but we appreciate the time the court spent wrestling with the novel issues raised in these motions and are evaluating our next steps," J wrote in an email.
