Janis Kestenbaum was quoted in the Law360 article, "FTC's New Antitrust Tilt to Narrow Its Privacy Focus," regarding the confirmation of four FTC commissioners.

"A turnover of all of the commissioners at once is extremely rare and really a monumental change," said Janis Kestenbaum, a partner at Perkins Coie LLP and onetime senior adviser to former FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez. "It brings a lot of possibility for new policy directions at the agency, but it's also quite possible, and maybe even likely, that we'll see a lot of continuity despite the change in personnel."

"It's possible that the new slate of commissioners will put more emphasis on what the Bureau of Economics advises on these matters, since antitrust lawyers are used to talking to economists and they play a significant role in antitrust matters," Kestenbaum said, adding that economists tend to look at issues such as what constitutes an injury differently than attorneys might.
