James Williams was quoted in the Law360 article, "ABA Slams Efforts To Break Up 9th Circ.," commenting on the American Bar Association House of Delegates' vote to formally oppose federal legislation aimed at breaking up the Ninth Circuit.

ABA delegates supporting the resolution, however, contend that the reversal rate has come down recently and that splitting up the court would be bad for big business, particularly the mining, shipping and tech industries that have hubs sprawled across the Ninth Circuit territory.

“They’ve grown accustomed to and deserve to have a uniform body of law to guide their business decisions,” said James F. Williams, a Washington state delegate, at the meeting.
