Critical infrastructure companies should expect substantial new federal cybersecurity requirements based on the National Cybersecurity Strategy that President Biden announced on March 2, 2023. After the Administration announced the Strategy, the EPA released a memorandum addressing cybersecurity in public water systems and TSA released an aviation cybersecurity amendment.

The Biden Administration released its National Cybersecurity Strategy on March 1. The Strategy breaks with past precedent and emphasizes regulatory mandates and imposing liability, in addition to enhancing voluntary information-sharing and development of best practices. The Strategy will particularly affect critical infrastructure and cloud service providers.

Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), promise to revolutionize not just commerce but the insurance markets as well.  In 2014, the European Commission estimated that, within 10 years, UAVs will represent 10% of the global civil aviation fleet.  

On February 15, 2015, the FAA issued its long-awaited notice of proposed rulemaking on small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Currently, federal law prohibits commercial use of UAVs without advance approval, typically through the so-called Section 333 approval process.
