New Blog Focuses on Legal Insights on Food and Beverage Labeling and Nutritional Content

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.  (February 25, 2014) - Perkins Coie is proud to announce the launch of Food Litigation News, a new blog focused on food and beverage labeling and nutritional content law.  Food Litigation News shares timely insights into litigation developments, emerging arguments and legal challenges facing food and beverage manufacturers and related industries.

The food and beverage industry has increasingly become a target for class actions and individual lawsuits following increased attention to product labeling, advertising, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and health claims for packaged foods.  Food Litigation News provides real-time information on the dynamic world of food and beverage litigation.

Food Litigation News offers analysis of key decisions from courts nationwide, tracks new filings against the food industry, and reports on important developments in class action law that bear directly on food litigation cases.  The blog will also carry updates on important regulatory, legislative, and administrative activity affecting food industry clients.  All of the blog’s content will be organized by topic area in a searchable format and will include access to copies of the underlying orders and complaints.

Perkins Coie’s food litigation attorneys practice at the center of the many cutting edge issues and challenges facing the food industry.  They handle food industry litigation, regulatory guidance, and pre-litigation counseling.  They have successfully defended food and beverage clients in consumer class actions and other claims throughout the country.

Perkins Coie’s food litigation attorneys execute highly effective approaches for global food companies to manage “all natural” labeling and bioengineered food claim class actions in jurisdictions across the United States.  Their work involves some of the world’s most popular and innovative products achieving early dismissals in high-stakes class and mass actions.  The firm’s attorneys maintain productive relationships with prevailing regulatory agencies and authorities overseeing a range of food and beverage areas.  Among the resources that the Perkins Coie litigation team draws on is a cadre of trial-tested experts, such as food science specialists, medical researchers, marketing experts, economists and investigators.
