Overview

Cory Owan is a patent litigation associate with experience in district court and U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) matters. Cory has been involved in many stages of litigation, from prelitigation strategies and discovery to pretrial and post-trial motion practice. His experience also encompasses various technologies, including electrical devices and networks across multiple industries.

Cory is a graduate of Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, where he was a Lisa Foundation Advanced Patent Scholar, participated in the Lisa Foundation Patent Clinic, and was an editor for Jurimetrics: The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology. He published “Don’t Abstract Machine Learning Patents” for the same publication.

Prior to law school, Cory earned his Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Arizona, where he graduated magna cum laude. As an undergraduate intern at Raytheon’s Missile Systems Business Unit, Cory focused on power electronics design stemming from internal applied research and worked on integration, power testing, prototyping, and peripheral interfacing relating to circuit card assembly development.
