Catherine Del Prete is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer who has litigated in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Catherine represents clients in every stage of litigation—from the moment a claim is made through trial and appeal. She has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for her clients.
As a partner with the firm's Insurance Recovery practice, Catherine represents corporate policyholders in coverage disputes and litigation. Catherine’s practice includes representation of clients in disputes on a variety of issues, including complex directors and officers liability and indemnification matters, cyber and privacy breaches, product liability, advertising liability, long-tail bodily injury, environmental contamination, large property and casualty losses, business automobile and trucking, employee theft, workers compensation and nonsubscriber issues, and more. She has experience across a wide range of industries including retail, technology, food and beverage, life sciences, financial institutions, transportation, and utilities.
In addition to her litigation practice, Catherine counsels clients on a multitude of topics relating to insurance coverage. Her counseling practice includes advice on policy renewals and audits, representation and warranty coverage, and ways to avoid gaps in coverage. Catherine negotiates contracts and crafts customized methods of offsetting her clients’ risks. She regularly advises companies and boards of directors on potential gaps in coverage and areas for improvement. She also advises on additional insured and subrogation issues to ensure maximum recovery for her clients. Catherine’s counseling practice includes advising startups and technology companies on cyber coverage issues.
Catherine has extensive experience in resolving cases via mediation, arbitration, and trial, which include obtaining a favorable verdict in a 10-day trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and settling a breach of contract matter for her client’s full demand in a multimillion-dollar dispute.
Maintaining an active pro bono practice, Catherine currently represents a death row inmate in his federal appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. In addition, she has represented a variety of pro bono clients over the years in civil litigation, adoption, guardianship, immigration, and expungement cases with favorable outcomes.
