SAN FRANCISCO (October 19, 2023)—Perkins Coie is pleased to share the recent announcement that Stefani Shanberg, a patent litigation partner in the firm’s San Francisco office, has been selected as a lawyer representative for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Stefani’s term will begin in 2024 and run through 2026. Stefani is one of only six lawyers chosen from a highly qualified and diverse group of applicants to undertake this important service to the federal bench.  

Stefani has litigated patent cases throughout the nation for almost 25 years, including more than 150 appearances in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Her experience is complemented by her leadership roles. She is a judicially appointed member of the Northern District of California Patent Instructions and Rules Attorney Advisory Committee and often serves as a mediator and neutral evaluator for the Northern District of California Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution program. Stefani also served as the only West Coast-based past-president of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association.  

She is recognized as a leading IP litigator and as one of the top women in technology law. She is ranked by Chambers USA in two categories: California: Intellectual Property: Patent Litigation and International Trade: Intellectual Property (Section 337). Stefani is further recognized as a leading lawyer in California.
