Susan Betcher focuses her practice on patent procurement, patent infringement and validity analysis, intellectual property license drafting and negotiating, due diligence analysis of patent portfolios and intellectual property counseling. Susan's practice covers a broad range of technologies sectors with concentration in cleantech technologies such as carbon sequestration, hydrogen production and storage, glycol recycling, as well as mechanical, electromechanical, and medical device-related technologies. She drafts and prosecutes U.S. and foreign patent applications according to strategic portfolio planning and performs intellectual property due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. She also advises clients on establishing internal patent procurement programs, analyzing and protecting competitive market advantages, and international patent prosecution strategies.
Susan's experience includes the following:
- Participate as an integral part of the management team providing strategic guidance to align corporate commercial business objectives with patent portfolio
- Analyze patent infringement and invalidity issues and provide counsel
- Prepare and prosecute design patent applications
- Draft and negotiate intellectual property licenses, technology transfer agreements, sponsored research agreements, joint development agreements and supply agreements
