Joseph Hamilton

Joseph Hamilton is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Perkins Coie LLP. Joe has experience litigating patents before Federal courts and the International Trade Commission and has handled numerous patent interferences before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Joe has litigated in a variety of technologies including video game systems & software, wastewater remediation technologies, defensive weapons systems, medical devices & biotechnologies.

In addition to litigating, Joe counsels companies and research institutions on their intellectual property needs including the establishment, development and maintenance of patent portfolios. Joe has experience in a wide variety of technologies including chemical and polymer manufacturing and processing, biotechnology, medical devices, and electronics. Specific technologies include: polymer manufacturing and polymerization methods, polymerization of polylactic acid, various catalysts for polymerization reactions, use of dopants to modify polymer properties, manufacture and use of polymer optical fiber, biofuels, biofilms, synthesis of anti-tumor α-carboline metabolites, inhibitors of ceramide catabolism for use in anti-tumor therapies, implantable leads for use in biological systems, electroplating techniques, lignin derivatives, lignocellulose compositions, lignophenol derivatives, triazoles for treatment of various conditions, polypeptide/amino acid sequences, oral drug delivery methods, and various medical devices.
