Dan Shvodian was quoted in the Law360 article, "Korean University's 3-D Camera Patent Suit Stopped By Alice," regarding the decision of a U.S. District judge to dismiss a major South Korean university's suit alleging 3-D sensor company LMI Technologies infringed its 3D camera patent.

LMI's attorney Daniel Shvodian told Law360 on Friday that Judge Chhabria had made the right call addressing the Alice issue right away.

“I believe that Judge Chhabria got the decision exactly right and resolved the [Section] 101 patentability issue efficiently, early in the case, in accordance with suggested guidance from the Federal Circuit,” he said.

Shvodian noted that the other claims in the '639 patent are for more detailed than Claim 1, but said that the university will have to decide if it has a basis to claim those claims are being infringed.

LMI is represented by Daniel T. Shvodian, James F. Valentine and Adam G. Hester of Perkins Coie LLP.
