Perkins Coie is committed to creating a more sustainable work environment. The Chicago Office Green Team works to eliminate paper, plastic and Styrofoam waste, and implements programs to raise awareness and reduce the office's carbon footprint. In addition to paper, plastic, metal and glass recycling, battery, cell phone and used office supply recycling is available. Incentives are offered to those who use public transport and encourage employees to participate in events like "Bike to Work Week."
Thirty-seven percent of the Chicago attorneys are diverse, 5.8% are lawyers of color, 1.2% are GLBT and 31.4% are women. Attorneys are invited to join affinity groups for attorneys of color, women, GLBT and parents. The Chicago Office Diversity Committee works with the National Diversity Department, led by Chief Diversity Officer, Theresa Cropper, to implement firmwide initiatives, sponsor events and support local law school affinity groups.
