Buck's transactional and regulatory practice is grounded in the federal, state, and local programs and private incentives driving the energy transition.

Buck Endemann has assisted clients on power and renewable energy development matters for nearly 20 years. He provides comprehensive commercial counseling on energy, storage, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, carbon capture and storage, and remediation projects, in addition to regularly advising clients on environmental and land use issues.

Buck helps clients evaluate and achieve their sustainability goals, including carbon offset, supply chain, and emissions reduction projects. He is an authority on the federal Renewable Fuel Standard and California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard. He has particular experience practicing before the California Public Utilities Commission and counsels clients on California Independent System Operator issues.

Representative Carbon Capture and Green Molecule Experience

  • Represents landfill gas developer master agreement with CO2 offtake to purchase waste CO2 gas from renewable natural gas project
  • Represents several landfill gas developers in dozens of landfill gas purchase and sale agreements, project development agreements, and offtake and interconnection agreements for power and RNG projects
  • Represents several wastewater treatment plants and associated developers in developing RNG facilities, including all commercial contracting and environmental attribute work and tax-free bond financing work
  • Represents coal seam methane project in RNG offtake and carbon capture/offset purchase and sale agreements for projects in Wyoming
  • Represents sponsor of agricultural waste-to-hydrogen fuels project and proposed CO2 pipeline to a co-located CCS hub in CEQA compliance matters
  • Represents numerous project owners in the development, certification, and sale of carbon credits
  • Negotiates carbon capture development agreements and related technology licenses and U.S. tax planning matters
  • Represented Marin Clean Energy in hydrogen project development efforts at the Chevron refinery in Richmond, California, and with other greenfield hydrogen developments elsewhere around California
  • Represented a retail and logistics company in one of the largest green hydrogen offtake agreements announced to date (80 tpd), with just-in-time delivery of liquid hydrogen to client retail centers
  • Represents public transit agency in electrolyzer supply negotiations to develop fueling stations for hydrogen bus fleet
  • Negotiates on behalf of a large corporate purchaser an offtake agreement with the developer of a CCS-enabled gas-fired cogeneration plant for delivery of low-carbon energy and related products
