Voting Rights: A path forward here, and in D.C.

Voting Rights: A path forward here, and in D.C.

A piece discussing the Supreme Court's decision to strike down Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, and how Congress, the States, and voting rights advocates can create a framework for 21st Century voting rights. The piece suggests that Congress update the 1965 Voting Rights Act (but not by treating voter-ID laws favorably), and that States pass their own "State Voting Rights Acts" to reduce the reliance on the federal act.
