Wei counsels clients on intellectual property issues with an emphasis on patent litigation matters.
Dr. Wei Yuan is an experienced patent litigator who regularly handles patent infringement disputes in Section 337 investigations before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S. district courts. Wei also represents clients in patent validity challenges before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including inter partes review and post-grant review proceedings.
Wei has extensive experience advising foreign companies on navigating IP issues and disputes related to their business activities in the United States. He has been recognized for his effective advocacy and has played a key role in numerous significant patent infringement victories at the ITC. Notably, Wei has successfully litigated several Section 337 investigations through trial, achieving three consecutive victories between 2022 and 2024.
Additionally, Wei provides strategic counsel and detailed legal opinions on freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, invalidity, and design-around issues. He also has substantial experience managing global patent portfolios and prosecuting patent applications domestically and internationally.
Before receiving his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, Wei served as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and later as a patent agent for an international law firm. He holds a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The City University of New York and a B.S. in computer science from Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
