Thea represents clients in internet and information security issues, with an emphasis on data privacy, free speech and expression, and addressing the exploitation of children online.
Thea Herrera's counseling practice includes advising companies on compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, including the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Communications Decency Act (CDA), and 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
A core part of Thea's litigation practice involves assisting communications service providers and other global technology companies in responding to third-party and government requests for user data governed by the Stored Communications Act (SCA). Thea also defends companies in privacy and security litigation on a range of matters, including cases involving free speech and online publishing and privacy class actions.
