Patchen Haggerty is firmwide chair of the Trademark, Copyright, Internet & Advertising practice. She manages global trademark portfolios as well as trademark and internet enforcement and take-down programs for market-leading companies worldwide. Her background in trademark enforcement matters includes dispute resolution and administrative actions around the world.

Patchen is ranked in the World Trademark Review 1000 as a band one attorney in Washington who thrives in the trademark enforcement space due to “constant vigilance and tech smarts.” She is hailed as a “savvy and creative attorney and go-to for all complex trademark and branding needs.” Also recognized for trademark prosecution, Patchen consistently delivers “pointed and practical legal advice.”

In her practice, Patchen regularly manages trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings and trademark application appeals before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), as well as Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings. She also counsels clients on complex and strategic legal and business matters relating to trademark, trade dress, copyright, domain name, and IP due diligence. Patchen’s transactional experience includes assisting clients in the protection, development, commercialization, licensing, assignment, and sale of intellectual property rights and assets.

Patchen maintains an active profile as a presenter and author on emerging issues in trademark, copyright, and IP legal protections. Recently, she has addressed such topics as protection of brands online, branding and anti-counterfeiting strategies, and best practices in IP licensing, domain name disputes, generic top-level domains (gTLDS), and IP protections for product designs.
