Overview

Leveraging his extensive global financial services experience, Linc Finkenberg advises companies on corporate trust, capital markets and transformative financial transactions, risk mitigation and related litigation and enforcement. Linc offers a deep understanding of how technologies such as AI, machine learning, distributed ledger, blockchain and digital currencies are being deployed and changing trust banks, financial companies and corporate law departments. His unique depth of knowledge in how these tools are increasing competitiveness informs his counsel to clients.

As former associate general counsel and managing director at BNY Mellon, Linc has been at the forefront of LIBOR and how its upcoming cessation can impact the debt capital markets. His recent career at the world's largest trust bank has given him deep insight into how constituencies may be affected and what needs to be considered in order to prepare.

Linc brings a global perspective to his corporate trust practice. During his career, Linc has led the formation and acquisition of trust banks in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia and performed in-depth legal analysis in several emerging markets to acquire or build the same.

During the financial crisis and its aftermath, Linc was the lead legal advisor for BNY Mellon’s corporate trust and clearing (tri-party repo and securities clearing) businesses, making him an authority in mitigation of legal and financial risk. In addition, his background includes leading the advisement on the implementation and ongoing administration of several emergency economic stabilization programs of the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve, including the Trouble Asset Relief Program (TARP), Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF), Public Private Investment Partnership (PPIP) as well as other programs sponsored by federal agencies.

Linc’s leadership experience includes overseeing BNY Mellon’s global Corporate Trust, Depositary Receipts, Treasury Services, Broker-Dealer Services and U.S. Government Securities Clearing legal teams and establishing legal coverage teams in New York, London, Australia, Hong Kong and Tokyo, as well as other legal and quasi legal groups. He has led the legal coverage for a global team of more than 30 lawyers and 100 transaction managers.
