Justin M. Gonzales Partner

Justin’s practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, investments, joint ventures, corporate governance and other corporate matters for public and private clients. His experience includes representing strategic buyers, private equity sponsors, portfolio companies and companies pursuing sell-side deals in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions involving a variety of industries, including software and technology, renewable energy, information services, manufacturing and music. In recent years, he has helped lead M&A transactions for clients such as Microsoft Corporation, Clearway Energy, Inc., and AdvisorEngine.

On transactions, Justin advises and assists his clients throughout the lifecycle of the deal, collaborating with senior management and principals from the early stages on structure and process, coordinating legal due diligence, leading drafting and negotiation of documentation, and moving a transaction efficiently to close. He prides himself on being a trusted advisor for his clients, working to understand their goals and helping them complete some of their most important strategic transactions. 

In 2021, Justin was named to The Deal’s “Top Rising Stars: Class of 2021,” which recognizes the most promising new U.S.-based M&A partners; he was one of just three Pacific Northwest based M&A partners to be included in the list. Justin has also maintained a pro bono practice and community involvement, advising clients such as Ecotrust and small businesses in the Portland-area on corporate issues and serving as a member of the board of directors of Latino Network.
