Jonathan Goddard manages business disputes to facilitate favorable and efficient outcomes, with a practice emphasis on contract disputes, construction and development law, and contract drafting and negotiations.
Clients turn to Jon for their most complex and time-sensitive disputes. He assists clients in resolving matters early to avoid litigation, including performing investigations to identify, mitigate, and resolve issues; and offering course-of-construction counseling and mediation. If matters proceed to formal disputes, Jon streamlines litigation activities—spanning from managing creative, cost-effective discovery solutions to writing case-ending motions—and contributes to case-winning trial teams. In the past few years, he has spent months in trial, trying cases before juries and in arbitration.
Jon also regularly drafts and negotiates construction agreements for contractors and owners throughout the United States, specifically throughout the West Coast. Jon’s project experience includes office buildings, mixed-use, retail, manufacturing, residential (including luxury homes and apartment buildings), and tenant improvements.
Prior to law school, Jon was a middle school math teacher with Teach for America in New York City and an International Baccalaureate (IB) math teacher in Jakarta, Indonesia. He remains committed to championing educational causes and maintains an active pro bono practice.
