Jill Ripke is a senior counsel with the firm's Commercial Litigation and Employment practices and focuses her practice on complex class action cases. Jill has defended companies in employment and independent contractor class action matters dealing with claims relating to independent contractor status, misclassification, unpaid overtime, unpaid meal and rest breaks and unpaid off-the-clock work. She has substantial experience in class action cases, including early strategic assessment, defeat of collective and class action certification, supervision of electronic document review and litigation holds, managing discovery request responses, oversight of expert witnesses, deposing named plaintiffs and drafting summary judgment motions. Jill also represents clients in claims relating to California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
Jill advises clients regarding independent contractor agreements and drafting of arbitration agreements. Jill also defends employers against individual discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination claims in both state and federal court.
In addition to her employment practice, Jill has experience defending companies against Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) claims related to access for blind and visually impaired consumers, as well as for deaf and hard-of-hearing customers.
