Holly Martinez Associate

Litigation Associate Holly Martinez (she/her) supports clients across the country. Skilled at early case evaluation, value-driven prelitigation resolutions, and litigation management, Holly is as effective before a courtroom judge and jury as she is in settlement negotiations, mediations, and prelitigation dispute resolution. Holly focuses on the most influential case elements to resolve disputes, such as the development of compelling case themes and jury persuasion. Holly also has extensive experience responding to and issuing subpoenas, preparing witnesses for depositions and trial testimony, managing large discovery projects, and briefing complex legal issues.

Holly has experience representing clients in class-action lawsuits, multidistrict litigation, products liability cases, breach of contract matters, and real estate and construction disputes. She has particularized knowledge in partnership and shareholder disputes and recently secured a seven-figure result for a client in a shareholder oppression case. Holly has advised clients ranging from individuals and small businesses to Fortune 50 companies.

In addition to maintaining a robust business litigation practice, Holly was named among the “Top 200 Global Psychedelic Lawyers and Policy & Regulatory Experts” by the Cannabis Law Report in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Holly represents cannabis and psychedelic clients in litigation, regulatory inquiries, and on emerging policy issues. She has deep experience with Right to Try Laws as related to scheduled drugs, efforts to reschedule substances pursuant to the Controlled Substances Act, and in navigating the local and national political landscape regarding psychedelics and cannabis.

In the wider legal community, Holly is co-chair of the Oregon Hispanic Bar Association, a founding member of the Psychedelic Bar Association, a board member of the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation, and a member of the National Native American Bar Association. Holly serves as an attorney-mentor to students at all three Oregon law schools and with Portland State University’s Explore the Law program. She is also a regular presenter at the Oregon State Bar’s annual “Learning the Ropes” two-day CLE for new lawyers in Oregon.

Holly was awarded the Perkins Coie J. Shan Mullin Community Leadership and Service Award in 2023 for her dedication to community service. She has also been recognized by the Oregon State Bar for working more pro bono hours than any other lawyer in Oregon in 2021; for this accomplishment, she was awarded the “Individual at a Firm Pro Bono Challenge Award” and “Oregon New Lawyers Division Pro Bono Award.” In 2020, Holly was awarded the Perkins Coie “Pro Bono Leadership Award” for her work suing the Trump administration and representing Black Lives Matter protestors.

Holly is a first-generation student and lawyer. She is a former Division One athlete, political speechwriter, and journalist. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with friends and loved ones and exploring the outdoors.
