For more than 20 years, Heather Heindel has served the construction industry, first as an engineer and now as a construction lawyer. As a partner in the firm’s nationally recognized Construction practice, she focuses her practice exclusively on construction law, including transactions, development, and disputes. Heather assists in the successful completion of construction projects from conception through closeout, including developing and negotiating complex contracts, overseeing and advising on legal issues during construction, and resolving construction disputes. Heather prepares and negotiates complex construction, operations, and maintenance contracts. She also successfully represents clients in mediation, arbitration, and litigation, and before dispute review boards, including developing electronic discovery strategies and managing multimillion document electronic discovery efforts.
Heather is instrumental on case teams as a thoughtful and strategic leader who digests the multiple issues construction projects face. As a go-to external lawyer, Heather develops a solid understanding of all the relevant facts of the case, as well as how those facts interact with the legal issues involved. Her experience as an engineer makes her effective in helping superintendents, project managers, and company executives resolve construction disputes. Heather has advised on projects throughout the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, and South Korea.
Through the firm’s pro bono efforts, Heather has assisted clients in formalizing caregiver relationships through nonparental custody proceedings.
Heather is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia.
