Gillian C. Kuhlmann Associate

Gillian Kuhlmann is a litigator that manages case progression at various stages of litigation, from inception through discovery to trial. She represents companies and individuals in high-stakes business disputes in both state and federal courts. Recently, Gillian was on the trial team that obtained a complete victory for a multinational general contractor against an owner/developer in a 12-week jury trial involving claims for wrongful termination and breach of contract. Gillian was also the lead associate in a breach-of-contract and trade secrets case in which she obtained an injunction to protect her client, a national financial planning company.

Gillian also has experience in constitutional litigation. She has represented individuals and organizations in state and federal court proceedings at the trial and appellate levels, challenging the constitutionality of election laws that disenfranchise voters and limit the ability of Democratic and progressive organizations to encourage participation in the electoral process.

Before joining Perkins Coie, Gillian served as a law clerk to the Hon. Robin S. Rosenbaum of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Hon. Frederic Block of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. In those roles, she honed her writing skills and gained immense experience in trial and appellate practice.

While in law school, Gillian externed for former Chief Judge Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She also spent two years as research assistant to Dean Erwin Chemerinsky of the University of California at Berkeley School of Law; while at the UCI School of Law, Gillian worked with Dean Chemerinsky on academic publications and drafted briefs for various district courts, circuit courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
