Overview

Diana Bowman has exclusively practiced construction law for more than 15 years. She primarily represents owners and contractors in resolving construction disputes through negotiation, alternate dispute resolution, and trial practice. Her recent experience includes participating in trials and arbitrations extending a month or more and involving myriad claims, including construction defects, design errors and omissions, and delay.

Diana’s experience includes drafting and negotiating form and manuscript agreements, advising clients on claim avoidance strategies, and representing clients in mediation, arbitration, and litigation. She also advises clients  during construction on assessing claims and developing strategies to mitigate project disruption.

Diana has successfully resolved disputes involving the construction of large-scale commercial, residential, energy, infrastructure, research, and transportation facilities. She has prosecuted and defended a range of construction claims involving construction defect and payment disputes, construction delays and disruption, design defect disputes, economic losses, mechanics liens, and payment and performance bonds. Her contracting experience includes engineering procurement construction (EPC) work, design-build projects, master service agreements, as well as traditional owner-architect and owner-contractor agreements. As counsel to transmission line companies, Diana handled state commerce commission proceedings and defended commerce commission decisions before state appellate and supreme courts.

A frequent writer and speaker on construction-related topics, Diana has also taught construction law at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
