Dan Austin represents emerging companies, investors, and entrepreneurs in a variety of business transactions and corporate governance matters. His practice includes helping clients raise capital, negotiating an array of technology and strategic partnership agreements, and advising on a range of complex commercial transactions, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financings. Dan’s experience involves numerous emerging growth industries, including cybersecurity, fintech, energy, transportation, digital media, healthcare (including medical devices and COVID-19 testing), and the life sciences.
As former in-house counsel with a venture capital-backed company, Dan was an advisor and member of the executive team. He also was a founding partner and the head of the business law practice of a boutique law firm focused on serving technology companies. Dan is a decorated U.S. Army veteran who served as a field artillery officer, attaining the rank of captain.
Committed to the business community in Austin, Dan serves on the board of directors of the Austin Monitor, a nonpartisan media company and community engagement organization. He co-founded DivInc, a nonprofit accelerator program, to address the acute lack of ethnic and gender diversity in the technology industry.
